Lies by Omission is a table-top role-playing game system inspired by the gothic horror films that came out of Italy in the ’60s and ’70s. Often referred to as Giallo films (because of their yellow, or Giallo, posters), these films regularly depicted everyday characters that slowly begin to uncover occult mysteries hiding just beneath the surface.

Best suited for smaller player counts (1-4), the system allows players to learn about their setting one piece at a time, sometimes requiring them to revisit older locations when new information has been revealed. It relies on their ability to investigate, explore, interact with the cast, and most importantly communicate with each other. Combat is rare and often deadly, so be sure to have some backup characters at the ready. Additionally, the players will not need dice to play- their tests are conducted via a push-your-luck mechanic garnered from a standard (Rider-Waite style) tarot deck; the contents of which will evolve over the course of the game. This is designed to depict the growing dread that piles up throughout their investigation.

Just as a note - GIALLOs were called by that name because they emulated a particularly violent kind of post WWII Italian thriller story found in magazines  - the majority of which had a lot of yellow on the covers as a cost-cutting measure. The form existed before the movies did and if the posters  have a lot of yellow to them, it was to remind the core Italian audience of the magazines rather than being yellow in and of themselves.

I do, however, REALLY like what I'm finding here and you're doing a wonderful job of emulating the style of the films.

Thank you for the history lesson and I am glad you like what I have put together. It is still in it's very early stages.

Loving the aesthetic you have so far! And the premise sounds super interesting.

thank you! The campaign I am working on is very exciting!

loving the visual style and how coherent the theme is to the content!

Thank you!!!!

As I'm working on the first campaign setting, I'm learning new information I need to add to the book, so stay tuned!

That's so freaking amazing. I love the vibe.

Thanks! Right now the whole thing exists in my head and has not actually been played tested. I feel like the system is a little complex but will make so much more sense when I have the actual campaign setting fleshed out.

Layout is genuinely impressive, it's beautiful yet readable.  Mood is also captured pretty well. Thank you for the game!

Glad you like it!!! Finishing up the main book now. I figured I wouldn't be launching this until the end of the year but I'm moving too fast

Lies by Omission is currently in its second draft and still in active development. I'm working on the overall book layout but I had the player's portion ready to share.

Currently, the plan is to release this digitally for free to get feedback and eventually bring this to Kickstarter with a printed book, a campaign setting, and a custom tarot deck.
